Motrin has created an insulting ad aimed at baby-wearing moms. Apparently, we do it in order to look “official” and like we’re super moms, while all the time we’re moaning inwardly with the terrible pain of it. So we’re martyrs, too. Motrin has just made a lot of mommies very angry.
Here are the words, so that they don’t disappear when Motrin gets a clue and takes down that terrible ad:
“Wearing your baby seems to be in fashion. I mean, in theory, it’s a great idea. There’s the front baby carrier, there’s the sling, the shwing, the wrap, and who knows what else they’ve come up with? Wear the baby on your side, your front, go hands free. Supposedly, it’s a REAL BONDING EXPERIENCE. They say that babies carried close to the bod tend to cry less than others but WHAT ABOUT ME? Do moms that wear their babies cry more than those who don’t? I sure do. These things put a TON of strain on your back, your neck, your shoulders, and did I mention your back? I mean, I’ll put up with the **PAIN** because it’s a good kind of PAIN. It’s for my kid. Plus, it totally makes me look like an official Mom. And so if I look tired and crazy, people will understand why. Motrin. We feel your pain.
I’ve used slings for all three of my children, and there were times when it saved my sanity. I really don’t appreciate being ridiculed by a corporation like Motrin.
Congratulations, Motrin. You’ve just ensured that we’re buying generic from now on, even if the price is the same. Between Pierre, me, and the kids, we go through a lot of different pain meds during the year.
Oh, if you feel like letting them know just what you think of their really stupid marketing, here’s the link to customer service.

Thank you for sharing this…Apparently the Motrin execs and advertisers never had to actually hold their own kids…that’s what au pairs are for! I actually found that chiropractic care helped my post partum pains more than any synthetic “medicine”… and most of that is from the physical changes our bodies go thru NOT holding our babies…of course they do start getting heavy pretty quick, but we hold them anyway, out of love not fashion…

I would agree – chiro is great and much better than “band-aid” care of chemical pain meds. Granted, there have been times (oh, maybe, once a month?) when popping a pain pill provides instant relief, but for something daily like taking care of your child?
Motrin and Tylenol are definitely feeling our pain now, I think.

That ping seems to be in Hebrew. I’d love to know what the site says.
