Trail Mix – that’s an interesting concoction of dried fruits and assorted nuts, right?
Well, that’s my life. I’m Marie Beausoleil.
You can find my (semi) professional blog at Of Books and Writing and if you Twit, I’d love to have you follow me – and please let me know you found me through Trail Mix.
My husband and I live in have recently moved away from very French northern Ontario where snowsuits are for more than just toddlers and we know what a toque is (and how to use it). We now live in the slightly warmer and much damper Maritime provinces, closer to my family. For a number of reasons, I won’t be more specific. We’ve been married since the summer of 2006. Before that, I went by the far less romantic, but far easier to spell, name of Mary Wood. I sometimes refer to my darling as Pierre, my French fighter pilot. Yes, he’s a Pierre, but no, he’s not really a fighter pilot. If you need to know, I can tell you the joke but it’s naughty.
I am working on an historical novel and I edit/proofread to keep food on the table.
We believe in natural childbirth, breastfeeding, babywearing, home church, home school, Biblical headship, and modesty, although we recognize that medicated childbirth, formula, artificial baby carriers, big church, traditional school, non-traditional relationships and tight jeans can have a very important place. And as traditional and stodgy as that might make us sound, we’re actually fairly wild and open-minded people.
Oh, yea, I’m also a cancer survivor. Breast lump removed seven years ago, brain tumor removed last summer, and now my doctor wants to “keep an eye on” some suspicious ovarian lumps and odd cells from my last Pap. Sigh.
But where do I hang out online? Well, if you do a search for the user mariebeausoleil, you’ll probably find me, if I’m there. I’m starting to work my way through the various social networking sites and at least establish my presence there, even if I’m not active. I will, though, begin building my profile and my activity in various places, at least once Nanowrimo is finished.
Let’s first start with contact information:
email me at marie.c.beausoleil@gmail.com
Follow me on Twitter at @mariebeausoleil – Just click that and it will take you to my profile page. If you haven’t already joined Twitter, I highly recommend it. Granted, it tends to suck away your time, but (as Motrin found out this weekend), it’s becoming extremely important. I currently have 559 617 people following me, which rather blows my mind in a nice way. This is probably the place where I am the most active.
At Livejournal, I am mariebeausoleil. Noticing a trend here? I don’t use Livejournal as much as I probably should.
Shelfari, which is an interesting site where we list our favourite books, is another site where I sometimes hang out as mariebeausoleil. I’m nothing if not imaginative.
I’ve recently joined the Forward Motion Writer’s community, and I’m Marie Beausoleil there. I likely won’t be doing much there until after November is finished.
Twitter Moms is another interesting site I’ve joined.
I’ve joined Bright Kite, but I’m not quite sure what I’m supposed to do there.
I’ve joined delicious (why are those periods in there? Just to confuse me?) and you can find all of my bookmarks there. They are a wild and varied sort.
I have a brand new profile on Facebook, with no friends. Boohoo. I’m Marie Beausoleil there, although I haven’t figured out yet how to link to my profile.
You’ll find me at Myspace, too, as soon as I figure out what I’m supposed to be doing there.
So there it is – my attempts so far to begin building my web presence. And you’re along for the ride.
What am I missing that I should be involved with?

Hang in there girl!
